About this Recipe
By: Fast Easy Bread
This recipe is a variation of our original crescent roll recipe specifically for Thanksgiving. These rolls come with a surprise in them which is a thankful for message. If you have everyone write down what they are thankful for then you can bake them into the rolls and read them together at dinner. Â
Ingredients
- 5 cups white unbleached bread flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 Tbsp Saf-Instant Premium Yeast
- 2 tsp Liquid Soy Lecithin
- 2 cups hot/warm water
- Thankful for… notesÂ
- Tin foil
It is very important that you use bread flour. Do not use all-purpose flour for this recipe. You can substitute almost any sweetener for the sugar such as honey or brown sugar at a 1:1 ratio. The Saf-Instant Premium Yeast and the Liquid Soy Lecithin can be purchased in the Homemade Bread Bundle or the Homemade Pizza Bundle.Â
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and mix dry ingredients. (yeast is a dry ingredient)
Step 2
To avoid a mess, make 2 dimples in dry ingredients with tsp. Squeeze the lecithin into the bottom of the dimples about the size of a quarter. Add water slowly, add 1 3/4 cups and then the remaining 1/4 cup. Mix for 1 minute and check consistency. The dough mixer should be sticky and pull itself off bowl.
Step 3
Mix/knead in mixer on medium setting for 5 minutes or knead for 5 minutes by hand.
Step 4
Spray counter and hands with cooking spray and knead for a few seconds to form smooth ball.
Step 5
Cut dough in half and roll out 2 large circles (both circles should be about the size of a large pizza.
Step 6
Cut each circle into 16 pieces, if you can’t cut on your counter with a regular knife or pizza cutter use a plastic knife. (Tip – Cut it like a pizza.)
Step 7
Roll each piece of dough from the outside or largest end into the center and place on sprayed cookie sheet Tip #1: Make sure the little end or tip is tucked under the roll so when it bakes it doesn’t unroll. Tip #2: For a buttery roll, place 1/4 cup of butter on a cookie sheet and put in the oven to melt. Spread the butter around and then place the rolls on the cookie sheet.)Â
Step 8
Brush the rolls with butter and cover the rolls with a dry dish cloth. Let them rise for 15 minutes.
Step 9
Bake at 350 for 15 minutes.Remove from oven and flip loaf out of pan and place on cooling rack.
Step 10
Remove from oven and flip loaf out of pan and place on cooling rack. Serve, enjoy, and be thankful!
