Buttermilk Biscuits Recipe

Basic Bread Buttermilk Biscuits 20 min 15 min 15 min 50 min

Ingredients :

5 cups white unbleached bread flour

1/4 cup sugar (can use honey, brown sugar or any sweetener 1:1)

1 tsp salt

2 Tbsp SAF-instant premium yeast - Found in the Homemade Bread Bundle

2 tsp Liquid Soy Lecithin - Found in the Homemade Bread Bundle

1/2 cup Melted butter (if not using shortening then 1 cup melted butter)

1/2 cup melted shortening (butter flavored)

1 cup warmed buttermilk

1/2 cup warm water

Instructions:

Mix all dry ingredients together.  Then dimple and add the Lecithin.  Slowly add the melted butter, shortening, and buttermilk while mixing.  Add warm water until dough ball forms.

Roll out dough ball to ½” – 1” thick. The thinner you roll the flatter the biscuit.  Use a biscuit cutter, cut dough. Place on greased cookie sheet and allow rising for 15-20 minutes.  Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes.  Brush butter on hot biscuit and enjoy.
